Our Environment

It is our mission to provide a high quality environment which enables children to begin their learning journey through life. We provide a well prepared learning environment which is rooted in Te Whāriki, the NZ Early Childhood Curriculum.

Inside
Our centre is an aesthetic, calm, warm and friendly home-like indoor and outdoor environment, with well-organised and natural learning materials.

Outside
We embrace our natural surroundings regardless of the weather - that means wet weather gear & gumboots in winter, and sunblock & sun safe hats in summer!

Rooms
Our 3 age groups are split across 2 rooms, with Infants & Toddlers sharing a large space upstairs. Our Matariki preschool room is downstairs. And we have an incredible outdoor area where we all explore together, rain or shine!

Ratios
In our infants and toddlers room, we generally have 1 teacher for every 3-4 children. For preschool, our ratios usually sit around 1 teacher for every 7-8 children.

Transitions

Most children in the Tui/Koru room will transition to our Matariki room (preschool) after they turn 2.5 years old. We will work with each individual family and child to support this transition. Children of all ages at our centre spend time together at certain stages of the day, and therefore know all the teachers – and we pride ourselves on our gradual and peaceful transitions.
